History of Gatsby on the Ocean

Opening in 1929, the building is a stunning example of Art Deco. Gatsby on the Ocean sits in the West Bathhouse at the historic Jones Beach.

Designed by Robert Moses, it was originally the Marine Dining Room. Throughout the next 90 years, it has seen many iterations. In 2019, the building was restored and reopened as Gatsby on the Ocean. Now, it is one of Long Island’s most stunning wedding venues.

The indoor ceremony space is equally beautiful. The scenery is equally stunning. Set in front of Gatsby’s enormous windows, the view is similar. Now elevated on the second floor, there is more of an ocean view.
